The Young Guns Charitable Foundation

Rugby as everyone well knows is a wonderful sport with a huge number of
practical and social benefits, not least the key importance of team work;
learning to operate within a constructive framework and the need to interact
with others as a collective effort to move forward; a concept very often alien
to a large number of disadvantaged children.
It has been firmly established through a variety of scientific and clinical
studies that by becoming engaged within the sport of Rugby in particular, this
brings to bear many social and physiological benefits to a young person, such as
the introduction to an ethical code of conduct – understanding the values of
sportsmanship. The ability to lose graciously, as well as to win well. The focus
to achieve and the self-discipline, which is needed to attain this. To some it
also means for the first time being given a sense of purpose, a value and most
importantly being part of an extended family - your team, friends and the
camaderie which goes hand in hand with this.
The ethos of the Young Guns Academy ticks most if not all of the Government's
recent initiatives directed towards young people - encouraging them to play
sport, promoting the taking of exercise, the importance of nutrition, education
as to what a balanced diet actually means and much more.
All the Young Gun Elite players feel very passionately about putting something
very tangible back into the Rugby community, which has been so good to them.
This enterprise can and is achieved in a number of ways be it through the
sponsorship of a number of children, whose parents may have fallen on hard
times, to enable them to attend one of the Development Courses at a school or
club.
Conversely it may involve the Players going into an inner city school or
deprived neighbourhood to introduce children to the game of Rugby, using their
status and position within the game as a catalyst to set schemes like this in
motion - to try to inspire and motivate the Children into getting involved with
the game, so they too can reap the well established benefits such an association
inevitably brings.
The ability to achieve this is funded by The Young Guns Academy in two ways. It
seeks partnerships and associations with existing Charitable Foundations of
large companies to persuade them to contribute towards the funding of such
enterprises as well as establishing a charitable levy on all Development Course
fees.
If you know of any people or causes, which you feel might benefit from this,
please contact The Academy with a brief synopsis of why you feel your proposal
qualifies and what is required of the Academy. In addition if you know of any
Charity or Foundation who may be interested in helping us to assist with our
goals in this area, please also let us know.
